100 Years Of Photography At Newport
Image 11 Orphaned student with blind teacher. Dico Abulta is 15 years of age. At the time of his birth, himself and his mother lived on the Ivory Coast. During their time there, she contracted HIV. Soon after that, she returned to Damongo without her son as she knew her inevitable fate. It was not until Abulta was 7 years of age that a distant relative came in search of him. Abulta now lives with his elderly grandmother who he has to provide for by working as a farm labourer after school. Copyright Paul V. Kelly 2003
